You don't have to cut a hole in your walls to put a doggie door in. Do you have access to the outside from the back of your townhome? Is it a sliding glass door or french doors. They make doggie doors for sliding glass doors (my sister has one) and I am not sure about french doors, but we had a storm door installed that has a panel on the bottom and installed the doggie door in that. We just keep our door open and let the storm door act as our access door.
