OHHHHH, so sorry about your and your baby's problem. I do not know personally all of the complications of the surgery BUT I do know that the food the dog eats has to be very specific to each individual dog. Since a portion of the structure that prevents food from going into the lungs and directing it to the stomach, has been altered, aspiration is one worry.
Would you share with us the symptoms and what was so severe that the vet thought this was the best treatment. Was she going into heart failure or something?? AND, I am asking only for the info because I am interested not because I want to start a discussion that can be very sad for you..
I have read that there is a doc in PA at the vet school who is working to perfect a stint that can be inserted into the trachea so that it stays open and the larynx does not have to have the disfiguring surgery..He is also working with a human anesthesiologist to perfect stints for PSS.
I do pray for a fast recovery of your baby..PLEASE keep posting so we can follow Chelsie's progress. |
