I know it is hard, but I don't think you will regret the decision. There are far too many red flags and I commend you for recognizing them and being strong enough to step back and pass on the offer. And yes, 6 wks is WAY to early for a pup to leave home. So is 8 weeks for that matter. I would question and doubt ANY breeder that would be willing to let them go that early.
