I'd take a friend(s) along for moral support (aka distraction) I had like 4 people in the room with me when I got mine done. It makes it pretty hard to chicken out with all those people watching you. Do not use peroxide on it either. Peroxide will kill the infection, but it also kills healthy cells too. I don't see why you couldn't go to the beach right away. I'd try to keep sand out of it and clean it very well when you got home, but other than that i don't know of any problems.
