Great post! Another point to make (in favour of rescued, adult dogs) is that I have found they are easier to house train than puppies.
The best analogy I have heard in relation to this is that you can't expect puppies to be instantly house trained in a similar way that you can't expect a toddler baby to be instantly potty trained. However, adult dogs pick up much faster because their brains are fully developed and they just want to please their caregivers.
The two female Yorkies I have adopted were surprisingly easy to train to use puppy pads ... however I might just be lucky ... |
