The red "dye" that is a natural coloring for Mother Nature can trigger many auto-immune responses. Tomatoes, red apples, red grapes to name a few. I, too have migraines..that is why I was not posting-I was sick in BED! For 4 days. I am a tough ole bird, seriously, but they knock me flat. LIght, sound, repetitive sounds, the mention or smell of foods wil prompt an episode of vomiting. The ache does really let up for a short while after that. MSG(also known as Accent) is another trigger,and is also known as hydrolized vegetable protein. FOOD TENDERIZER, WHEN USED UNFLAVORED, IS NOT MSG!! Caramel colorings in such things as sauces in cans, gravy etc have a similar compound.
I started with them at age 11. Traumatic childhood was a factor in the frequency. BUT, there was an emotional component. When I got sick, my dad would come to my Granny's house and bring me a piece of ice, tomoato juice but the creme de la creme was a Hershey bar all of my own. I really spent a long spell when I didn't have them. But, since I have had so many debilitating episodes, I get the more often. If you don't have a heart or blood pressure problem, you can take acetamenophin 500 mgm 2 tabs every 6-8 hours AND take the old fashioned "No Doz" tablets. It was used to keep drivers awake when they are drivers. Take 100-200 mgm with the other stuff. I had a doc in the employee health unit that I ran who had terrible migraines. He could not leave his clinic so he said to consider the words as orders and to give him some of that damned stuff. He took 2 doses in about 3 1/2 hours and went home as usual..Ice on the back of the neck might help. Ice on top of head or forehead might help. Soothiing scents; accupuncture; acu-pressure in the temples work well;
One should always check with ones doc to make sure the stimulant is okay BEFORE you take anything. Hope some of these things give you at least, some different approaches.
