My sister and I both got our yorkies three years ago for Christmas. She is 20 now and still lives with my parents and goes to college here. She took care of her dog at first, but she does nothing at all for him now..he's basically my parent's dog, although he's registered in her name and was given to her. You'll always see me say "my parent's yorkie" on here because he really is. She never feeds him, walks him, brushes him, bathes him or anything....my mom and dad do that. She'll come home and pet him and love on him for a few minutes but that's it...but she takes no responsibility for him. He stayed with me for 7 weeeks a couple months ago when my parents went on a long vacation...and I brought him back at thanksgiving since I live 5 hours away. She was here, but they knew he wouldn't get taken care of..and they'd come home to pee stains all over their house. He might get to go back home with me after New Years for a month or so because my parents are going out of town for a few weekends again...they just know she won't take care of him. I keep trying to convince them just to give him to me LOL...of course my parents love him though and would miss him. I just hope when my sister moves away from my parents once day that she doesn't get to take him with her |
Gosh I KNOW the feeling! That's the exact way it is here...my mom takes care of Chloe even though it's "my sister's" dog. When I'm here, I do the work because I want to...I have 6 myself so there's really no difference in having one more to brush their hair and teeth. She is very loved by my mom and I, and I keep telling my mom to just claim her. Her parents have NEVER been sent in, so I think either she or I should send them in with our name! It's exactly the same situation, that I just sincerely hope that either my mom or I get poor Chloe if my sister ever decides to move out...which could be soon. I don't understand what's so hard about brushing them once a day and taking them out to pee...
Heck, I do it with six, and she can't even do it with one!!!
