I use cotton balls for Ellie. On Animal Planet's Emergency Vets, one of the doctors said it is best to clean dogs ears out once a week during the summer. I would think that would be a good thing to do year round. We use Chlorhexiderm here. It is a blue liquid that dries them but I think it clean also.

I did the cotton balls a couple of times, but didn't think it did that much good. Maybe I'll start to do that again.
