Last night Gizmo was miserable. He kept scratching at his ears and whining. So, first thing this morning, John took him to the vet. He has a bacterial ear infection and has some prescription medication.
The good news is that he is very healthy and 7 and a half pounds at 9 and a half months old.
Here's my question...
What ear care procedures should we follow to prevent this sort of infection?
My husband and I disagree on this, so your input would be appreciated. He thinks that it could not have been prevented, and that I worry too much. (The worry too much is probably true.

)
-remove inner ear hair every six weeks or so? (how often, is it necessary at all?)
-should the ears be blocked or covered during baths to prevent water from entering the ear canal? (If so, what do you use?)
-should we put an ear wash in his ears? How often?
-should we put a drying agent in his ears? Which one? How often?
Thanks! YTers always have such wonderful advice, and I greatly appreciate it.
