I took my pup to the breeder who was happy to groom Remi until he was a year old. I drove over forty miles one way but felt that it was well worth the trip. My husband and I scheduled the grooming with the breeder as needed or about every 8 weeks.
During this time I investigated every local groomer. I got recommendations from the vet, from neighbors, from the local pet shop, etc., and one name was repeated over and over to me. This lady was recommended as especially good for small dogs.
I then "dropped in" on the groomer, unannounced one day. I told her I would like to speak with her when she had a moment and that I would wait. From the next room I watched her groom a Maltese and everything appeared to be going very well. The dogs in their crates were not barking, nor did they appear to be nervous.
I liked what I saw and I liked the groomer's attitude and her kind handling of the dogs. She picked Remi up, kissed him and called him her Munchkin. Remi has been to her twice and has done well and looks good when I pick him up.
I feel greatly relieved. I too was very worried about handing my little one over to someone with scissors and clippers.
Lots of good luck! Merry Christmas! |
