Don't know about the standing thing, but some yorkies are prone to ear infections. My Pixie is really prone to them! I have to put a cotton ball in her ears and vaseline on top of that to keep the water from getting in her ear when I bath her. Just a little bit of water will have her scratching her ear before long. After the bath, I take a wrung out wash cloth to clean her ears.
