I've read that it's uncommon for a large breed dog to have this problem and we've never had this problem with any of our large dogs. It seems to be a small breed problem. I've also read that a higher fiber diet that results in firmer stool can help alleviate the problem because of the pressure when relieving themselves. So far we haven't had a problem with Bella but she's only 9 month old.
