I find it a lot easier to feed him raw. Now I am concerned with how much to feed him. I have the NV medallions. Since I work during the day...I feed him one in the morning, I leave 1/4 cup of dry kibble out (sometimes he eats it sometimes he doesn't), and then I feed him one medallion around 7 or 8pm. Am I over feeding him?
I read somewhere that the ratio is 2% of the dog's body weight. My pup is 4lbs so I feed him 1/2 a medallion for breakfast and the other 1/2 for dinner. I also spoke to a raw food nutrition specialist and she told me that the first few times I give my dog raw food, I should feed him as much as he wants. She said that he will eventually let me know how much he needs and this should eventually be one feeding a day as they absorb the nutrients much better with raw food and will not require more as he will be satisfied. Raw diets also result in less poop and smelly poop at that as he is absorbing the nutrients and getting enough protein without the unnecessary carbs/grains they get from commercial foods.
