What a horrible situation to be in. I completely understand that you don't want to cross the line and tick him off for fear that he won't let you see your nephews anymore.
So DID anyone ever report it to child protection? What was the outcome? I would report it again anonymously and NEVER admit it was me. Sounds shady, but that's honestly what I'd do.
