I can't sleep without my boyfriend next to me, either. When we are away from each other (which is very, very rare) both of us have issues sleeping. I usually make myself a drink my Mum used to make for me when I was little to put me to sleep - I was on so many medications I barely slept.
Milk, a little vanilla and a little food colouring. Voila! Magic potion. Works every time for me.
Apart from that you could try doing some exercise before bed, maybe that'll help?
