My Xena chewed up the bottom of the boxspring too before we put suitcases and storage containers under the bed so she couldn't go under there. I swear if it's something they shouldn't be doing that's what they want to do!
On a side note I'd be careful. A friend of mine's cat got stuck in the boxspring and ended up breaking his little leg.
