 flea problems!
Sargie picked up a flea somewhere on his walks and by the time we discovered them he was covered with flea dirt. The small-dog Hartz 4-way protection almost killed him, so the vet gave me Myconex shampoo (didn't help) and then Protocall (didn't help). He said Advantix and Frontline might be too much since the Hartz hurt him - anyway, he said the Protocall would do the same thing...doesn't appear to have done it. The only thing that seemed to work is Zodiac Puppy Flea and Tick Spray. It is supposed to repel them and kill eggs, which I am not sure it did so well, but if you spray it according to the directions on the pup, the adult fleas will drop off dead or dying within minutes.
More of a problem is getting fleas out of house - I vacuumed, washed, bleached, sprayed this eucalyptus-clove stuff from Target which is supposed to kill fleas, ticks and eggs - on carpets, sofas, bed, pillows, floors, everything. I think the cold has finally knocked them off. Fingers crossed -- |
