Its definitely not too late to change it..I heard two syllable names were best...but Elphaba is three and she responds great to it...better than her two syllable nick name of Elphie.

As far as crying at night...our crate is downstairs in the living room. Elphie stopped the lonely crying after the first couple of nights. She started sleeping soundly through the night no problem....Then a month after she got home she'd cry when she wanted to go potty...usually once or twice in the night. After a month of me getting up a lot in the middle of the night, I started letting her sleep in bed with me a couple weeks back and now she sleeps soundly through the night...doesn't wake up until the alarm goes up or a kitty gets on the bed to wake us .
