First breeding question I have an alpha female who just entered into her 3rd heat cycle at 18 months. We have planned a breeding with my male this heat and he is 8 months and 3 days. (just made it) She started spotting Friday night. My mentor says he will show interest when she starts dropiing eggs which may be as early as Monday and may continue on until usually the 11th day. He IS NOT interested in this thing and she growls when he sniffs her. This is BOTH of their firsts. Should I be concerned that this just isn't going to happen this time? She is alpha female. He shows agression and doesn't back down from her but at least she thinks she still rules. I am worried they may not breed. BOTH have no luxation, have had their pedigrees researched for any common problems with the known lines, bile acid tests were fine, and both UTD on shots. Female was confirmed at the GA show in June by an AKC judge and a handler. Topline perfect, eye rims dark, snout not too long/too short, silky correctly colored coat, eyes a little wide set but great topknot corrects that (that's what she said) My male is standard and fixes her wide set ears. (no they are not like buck wheat ears just wider than some)Anything else I could've done other than showing? |
