I dock from 3 to 5 days...Always before it is thicker then the diameter of a pencil. Some are ready at 3 days, some at 5..a few went to 6 and one went to 12 full days..and he looked like a 3 days old.

I have docked litters of Min Pins, Boxers, mixed Dobies and dozens of Yorkies..never lost one from a docking, but I approach each puppy as if it was the first one I have ever done, very carefully.
