Princess gets her hair brushed out every morning, I don't use rubber bands on her, I use the plastic ones. I take her hair down before bed, and she's brushed again. The plastic ones always stay good in her hair, and they come right out, where the rubber ones pull on her hair. I haven't heard of the 12 hour rule, Princess is 4 years old and her hair is doing just fine
