We used to breed German Shepherds and had a similar problem with a new mom. She had a puppy that was very small and not doing well. My son could not let nature take it course and had to help. He would take that tiny baby and stick her under his tshirt right in the center of his chest and hold her there for hours. He only took her out to hold her up to mom to eat. He did this for a couple of days and in time she grew stronger and was able to eat with the rest of the pups. We thought that maybe having her close to his heart like that helped and of course the warmth.

I am happy to say that Tessa is still with us and only now at eleven years old is starting to slow down a bit. We sold the rest of the pups in that litter, but Tess had to stay, of course. Oh, my son was only thirteen when Tess was born, but seemed to know exactly what to do. Everyone told us it was futile, but he proved them all wrong.
