College life for me and my friends means constantly on the go. Aside from daily classes, we took many trips to explore the world and join various activities. Experiencing the "real world" for the first time can be fun and a bit overwelming. At the time I also wanted a pet, but held off knowing my schedule is ever changing. Of course, everyone experience things differently, I was simply speaking from my own experience. Please don't take it personal.

I posted that comment in a rush because I was meeting someone for lunch. I normally read my comments over and over to make sure I don't offend anyone. Though my words may not be very articulate at times, I don't mean to hurt anyone
You are right about a lot of college students that get dogs. College Station is home to Texas A&M University and almost 50,000 students. The animal shelter here receives almost 500 dogs and cats a month (both strays and owner surrenders). In the months of May and December, they get closer to 1000! Students graduate and move away and leave their pets behind

However, a lot of college students can be very responsible for pets. I was a freshman in highschool when I got my cat, Kira. She stayed with my parents my freshman year in college since I lived in a dorm. I then moved into a townhouse and brought her down here with me. I then got Lacy my sophomore year in college and just got another cat, Sophie, this past April. I'm in my first year of vet school now, and no matter how busy I get - my pets are the most important to me. Lacy is pretty much my number 1 priority - I don't go out much because I'd rather be at home with her or run errands and take her with me. I can't imagine why all these students choose to give up their pets because they are moving. I would NEVER do that with mine.

Anyway, I know you said she's not a college student...just wanted to respond
to the comment about it. You know your daughter and know if she's responsible and it sounds like she is. Gosh, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for my parents to tell me I can get another dog for Christmas...I've been working on that for three years! I don't even care if they help pay for it...just would love for them to say I can get one (they own my house and still pay for my school so they have a say in my pets )
