vets dont scan every new patient |
But legislation is being introduced so that it will make it more profitable for vets and shelters if they DO scan every new patient. One problem is that there isn't a universal scanner at the moment; some of the scanners only read ONE type of chip. They're trying to get it passed that if a dog is lost or stolen and they've got a chip, and there's a reward posted, it will automatically be noted; which is a big incentive for vets and pounds and shelters to scan more fastidiously. Of course, this will probably take forever to go thru. It's all tied up with licensing at the local and county level too, so you know what that's like
