When I got my first yorkie I wanted a girl, like you, so I could dress her up. Well no matter how hard I tried, she has always preferred my husband and she hates clothes.
She is most definitely not a lap dog, she is extremely independent. We got my daughter a little boy and he loves everyone but he worships her and will always prefer her over anyone else. Our last addition was my little boy Sugar who is completely in love with me and would be thrilled if I just held him 24 hours a day. A silly game I play is I sit on the floor and talk ooey gooey baby talk to the dogs. The boys go nuts climbing all over me and giving me kisses while Gracie tries to get as far as she can from me. Obviously I prefer the little boys. Ironically, the boys don't mind clothes at all although I have to admit, girl clothes are more fun.
Editing to add- I know all dogs have their own personality and you can't go 100% by sex but my mom has a boy and a girl and her boy is the sweetie pie and the little girl is the very independent one. She also had another female who has passed away and her personality was identical to my Gracie so I do think boys have a tendency to be the little lovers.
