Delivering Your New Puppy
All puppies must be paid in full before they are shipped.
Your puppy will be shipped to you when it has been weaned from it's
mother long enough to eat and drink at will and with out prompting. We take
every precaution to make sure your puppy arrives in your home healthy, happy and worry free for you.
Some puppies, especially the small breeds such as Yorkies and
Chihuahuas, can stay in our kennel up to 12 weeks. These breeds are more fragile when they are young and need extra time to mature and grow than the larger breeds. Although you may be impatient to see your new puppy, it is
worth the wait to make sure he/she arrives at your home healthy and remains that way. When your puppy is ready to go to his new home 8weeks, we will arrange airline transportation of the puppy. Saturday is our normal shipping
day but special arrangements can be made if Saturday is not convenient for you.We ship puppies primarily with Continental Airlines Cargo Service.
Airline shipment costs $125-175 and that charge is paid to the airline. Some
airports do not have cargo service and your puppy will need to be
shipped VIP to the airport closest to you. Please choose the major airport you
would like your puppy shipped to.
Winter/Summer Shipment Warning: Due to low temperatures around the
country, shipping during the winter months can be difficult. The temperature at
the origin airport, the connecting airport and the arriving airport must be
above 10 degrees. Airlines will cancel shipments to airports with
temperatures below 10 degrees. Likewise, in the summer temperatures
must be below 85 degrees for shipment. If your puppy's shipment is canceled due
to temperatures, we will make every effort to ship the puppy as soon as
the weather looks favorable. We may have to ship late in the afternoon and
we have to be ready to ship any day of the week to avoid temperature
conflicts.Your puppy will be in a comfortable, reusable shipping kennel with
plenty of food and water for the trip. He/she will be placed in a temperature
controlled and comfortable part of the plane. A veterinarian will
inspect your puppy prior to the flight to certify that he or she is healthy.
Prep for your new one
Your new puppy will arrive to you in a Pet Taxi, or Pet Carrier. There
will be a piece of carpet inside that the puppy can sit or lay on.
Underneath this piece of carpet will be your paperwork, such as shot record, AKC
papers, dog food information etc. inside a ziplock bag. Your puppy is
up to date on all vaccinations but you will need to finish the series that is
required for him to be fully immune to any of these diseases. Try not
to take the puppy to a place that other animals have been and put him
down. The dog food and nutri-cal will be taped to the top of the taxi. The
airlines will feed them only if there is a delay in flight. I will give them
nutri-cal right before take off so their blood sugar will not get low,
you will need to give your puppy nutri-cal as soon as you pick the puppy
up. I require that you call me the minute you have the puppy in your arms. I
also like to know that the airlines have done their jobs by keeping them
safe for us.
Your new puppy should be in a confined area when you are not watching
it very carefully. It will not know about danger since it has been
protected so very carefully here. I recommend a human baby play pen at first, put a
puppy pee pad in one corner and the food, bed and toys in the other corners.
In the cold months you can put a clip on light with a 75 watt bulb over
the puppy’s bed. (These clip on lights can be purchased at Wal-Mart)
Puppy needs to be warmer than you are for a little while. The puppy will be able to
move away from the warmth if it is too warm. When your puppy is not in the
play pen you will need to watch very carefully not to step on it. Puppies
love to be right under your feet, you will need to learn to walk with a shuffle
to ensure not hurting it. Do not leave your puppy sitting on anything that
it can not get down by itself. Falling off of a chair can kill your new
puppy. Do not let children hold the puppy standing up. Puppies are very wiggly
and can be dropped. A fall from a standing person can kill your new puppy.
Your new puppy needs to eat and this is very important. The Science
Diet Puppy dry food and water needs to be available to your puppy at all
times. Puppies eat a little bit all day long. Do Not change your puppy’s
food, it can cause diarrhea and possibly worse. If your new puppy will not eat, please do not hesitate to call me at home, , or email me. You can give
nutri-cal to your puppy every day as a treat or reward for doing
something good, it will also keep the puppy's blood sugar up. You can not
overdose your puppy but it can cause diarrhea if given too much.
Try not to over handle your new puppy. I know it is tempting to hold
and play with this absolutely adorable creature but let the puppy rest as
much as needed. This is important. You are going to do a great job, I just
know it!
God Bless you and your new life with this precious baby!
