My mother used to breed shelties and this was a very common procedure.
It is done to the pups when the are very young, and I think that it would hurt too, but so does docking a tail. I hope that them being so young that it doens't hurt as much or at least they don't remember the pain.

yorkierose mentioned that it doesn't hurt. i think i'm going to do it for my coco. lately this world has become very crazy with people stealing
"little" dogs and i'm hearing it happen more and more often. especially now that these celebs have made this breed the "in" high priced dog

i will do anything to help get him back to me if something like him being taken from me ever happened. and since it's painless and very quick as yorkierose stated, why not!
