I don't have Main Coons but they are beautiful, BIG cats. They are the largest breed of cats I believe and they can have dog-like personalities. If you are looking for a purebred cat, be sure to go through a reputable show breeder - there are kitten mills just like puppy mills. If you are looking for a certain type of personality in a cat, a good breeder will be able to match you up with a kitten that has the personality you're looking for. When I got my newest Himalayan, I told her breeder exactly what type of personality I was wanting and that I wanted her to get along with Lacy and she picked Sophie out of a litter of 7 for me...and she's worked out beautifully. I got Sophie when she was a few days short of 5 months old and I LOVED having a slightly older kitten..just made things so much easier. Most breeders will have some retired show cats that they are looking to place as well so that might be a great option for you.
