LOL!!! One of my Shelties will wake up and bark for no apparent reason. Usually just one or two barks, and then he'd settled back in. We thought he was just crazy or dreaming or something...
Then last year I was in an accident and had to spend several months in bed (actually "on couch") and off my feet. I was set up next to a window so I could have something other than the TV to stare at. I began to notice that when Dempsey would bark randomly like that, there was something outside that that only he could hear. I'd look out and see deer in the back yard or a squirrel on the deck.
Or perhaps it was a "frog pooting somewhere" and he just wanted us to know!
Certainly different from the fit he throws when there is a human in his yard!
