I say go for it if it's what you want to do! Going back to school probably won't be the most fun thing but it really goes by fast once you get going. I had a 8 month break between graduating from college and starting vet school, and gosh I was NOT looking forward to having to study and take exams again. I'm in my 11th week now and looking back, it's been going by so fast! I only have 5 weeks left until I'm out for christmas and done with my first semester (can't wait!!!). So it'll fly by. I'm not sure exactly what tech school involves but I know in vet school that although the lectures are kindof boring to go to sometimes, I love when we get to do hands-on things. I also love when I learn new, interesting things that I never knew before or get to do something for the first time (especially when I do it right!). So I'm sure you'll have days you hate being in school and days you'll love it. In the end, all that school is worth it when you get to do what you've always wanted to do

I worked as a vet tech/kennel tech all throughout highschool. I enjoyed it for the most part. I really enjoyed assisting with surgeries. Most of the clients were nice too and I got to be around dogs and cats all day which I loved. What's not fun is when you get a client that's a pain in the @$$ or one that doesn't really care about their pets (the type that says "oh I'll just shoot him" ). Aggressive dogs and cats can be scary sometimes too...especially when YOU are the one that has to get them out of a cage on the very top...

There are always good techs needed I think. I've always heard the turnover rate is pretty high. I think a lot of people end up doing something else with their life and I guess some get fired. So I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem finding a job with a vet practice. I think vet techs are really important in a vet practice. I've heard several vets say they don't know how to run this and that machine and other things technical like that so they really depend on their techs for things like that. Also, techs are the first person most clients talk to - they take most of the history from the client and it's important that they be able to interact with the client well. I think a lot of techs (including me when I was in highschool) go into their jobs because they love animals but aren't necessarily people-oriented and isn't always able to communicate with the client well...so it's important that a tech love animals and be people-oriented. One bad thing about being a tech is that mad clients will probably yell at you first...they may not feel like they can be mad and yell at the vet but for some reason will feel like it's okay to be rude to you... But with experience, I'm sure you'll learn how to deal with that.

Anyway, I feel like I'm just rambling..haha. I think you should definitely go for it. With any job there are negatives and positives. I think overall it's a great job and you should enjoy it! And like Kalina said, if you start to dislike the practice where you're working or get bored with it..switch to another. Good Luck!
