 Herniated Disk
Many years ago I had a Pekinese that herniated a disk in her back by jumping up on the couch to get in my lap (something she had done coutless times over many years). She was paralized from the shoulders back and was so pitiful. At the time treatment was limited (as were my finances) and we had to have her euthanized. I was hysterical for a week. Since I knew that Yorkies sometimes have similar problems, along with knee problems, I bought some "pet steps". These steps allow my Kodi to get on and off the couch or bed without jumping. Even though he is bigger now and could probably get down by himself, I encourage him to ALWAYS use the stairs.
