Depends on what you're feeding your dog and how big she is, as well as the activity level. Archie eats Neura 95% Lamb wet food. I give him 1/3 of a can at each feeding, and there's always dry food (eukanuba petit) for him to munch on if he feels like it. He's 9 months old, 10 lbs. and extremely active since he goes outside a lot and plays with the neighbors' dogs.
If you're feeding your puppy grocery brand food, which contains a lot of fillers, you might need to feed a little bit more to get the same nutrition as you'd get from a premium food. Neura has 95% pure lamb and the rest is vitamins and stuff and Archie still goes through 2/3 of a can per day.
Growing puppies might need more food, though, or atleast an equal amount of food with more nutrients and calories. My thought on this is that it would be OK to feed your dog more, but just make sure that she gets the proper exercise so that she doesn't become overweight.
I always leave food out for Archie because he doesn't eat it all in one sitting, and he's picky about how much he eats. That's what my vet recommended we do. |
