Be sure it is tied and cut neatly (not too short). If you have some iodine, you should apply that to it to help it to dry quicker. Coming home after baby, I use to use alcohol to help my boys dry up so in a pinch I'm sure that would work. As long as it as fleshy they may bother it. If she continues to, she may open the puppy open up.
