I am very interested in this posting. Three weeks after we got our baby (six years ago), she went into kidney failure. We nearly had to put her down. She had eaten cat food as she was refusing to eat her own food but stealing the cat's. We were made to feel that it was our fault that her kidneys were failing due to the cat food and high protein. However, my husband checked the bags, and the puppy food we were trying to feed her had higher protein than the cat food. Actually, I know it wasn't the cat food now, and, although we are not sure what it was, she is fine today. But it still bothers me when I look at the food we feed her today (Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier) it is high in protein. We have always been told to keep the protein lower. What do I believe?
