Higher protein levels will not cause liver disease. It just brings out the symptoms as far as I know. A higher protein diet should be fine as long as it's not too rich for your Yorkie. I was really liking Orijen for awhile but now think that a lower protein food is probably best. For a healthy Yorkie, I would probably go 30% and under.
