Do I need to try to separate them the next time she's in heat and just let them be together when I want them to mate? I'll appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. |
Always seperate when a female is in Season.....
You never let nature take it's course....great damage could be caused to your male and render him unable to stud again.....you need to be very active while breeding....another pair of hands would help..someone to hold the female and another person to assist the male. The female should be held gently until the tie (not lock) is completed...This is to keep her from biting or draggin him around.... Keep them seperated during the heat cycle.....1 week coming in, 1 week showing color, and 1 week coming out (breeding time)....only bring them together when you breed them (one time, every other day.
Until the next time....I really think you should study everything you can on breeding, whelping and raising a litter...And especially make sure that both meet the standard and free of genetic defects.
