I usually have Paddy sleep in his crate right next to my bed. If I leave him roaming around my room when I go to bed he usually winds up in his crate so I think he really does like it in there. To my husbands dismay I'm not really a fan of Paddy sleeping on the bed because first off he's so small and my bed is so high that I'm afraid I'll kick him off and I actually have almost smushed him and woken both of us up in the middle of the night. Secondly I've read and heard from trainers that the pack leaders usually sleep seperately from the followers so, keeping them off the bed is another way to set yourself as their leader. We compromise though, most days he's in his crate with the door open and then one or two nights a week he comes in the bed.
One thing that is weird is that he has never ever peed on the bed but if he stays in his crate with the door open he sometimes does go on his pee pad during the night.
