I quit 3 1/2 years ago! (Wow, the time flies). My husband and I quit before we got married, as a gift to ourselves. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I feel so much healthier and happier too. It was (and still can be) very hard. On warm evenings I always think about how nice a cig would be. But then I start to think about all the negatives and I am sooo glad I quit. I can't believe I used to walk around smelling like smoke, now it makes me gag.
I totally agree that the hand to mouth motion, is an addiction too. Sometimes I'd grab a pen and take in a deep breath as if it were a cigarette, and honestly it felt so good. (Almost as good as a cigarette, because of the hand-to-mouth-take-a-deep-breath motion).
Good luck, I think it is great that you are quitting. And being an ex-smoker who used to smoke more then a pack a day, I can honestly say--- YOU CAN DO IT!! AND IT IS WORTH IT! Come chit chat whenever you need a little help.
