My first yorkie was neuter at 6mos he became over weight and a diabetic when he was 3yrs old. I don't know if any of this has to do with him being neuter or do. but I am having second and thirds thought about doing it to Wicket, also he only weighs 3lbs 12ozs I am not sure about putting him under
anesthesia.
A dog's metabolism does slightly slow down some because of the lack of hormones, but a dog does not become overweight because of being neutered. A dog becomes overweight because it is being overfed and not getting enough exercise.
