I have two male dogs. Seamus is a 6 yr old neutered boxer and Snickers is a 16 week old intact yorkie. I have never had any problems with house breaking. We got snickers when he was 8 weeks old and he has only had 2 accidents in the house. He goes both outside and will use a puppy pad. He mostly goes outside, but when I am not home he will use the pad. At fist he used the pad most of the time but now he will only use the pad if I am gone for a long time. I plan to completely eliminate the pad when he about 4 months. I think the key is consistency. Feed at the same time every day and take them out at the same time every day. puppies need to go out a lot more as they get older they will learn to wait for the right time. My yorkie will work for treats. Every time I take him out I use the same command "go potty" and when he goes I give him a treat and say "thank you". I also think it helps that my boxer is very well trained and has shown him the ways of a good dog. I love male dogs. |
