Are Table Scraps Ok? I put a post on the general forum, but I think I should have done it here on the nutrition forum. Here is what I wrote, if anyone can provide some answers, I would appreciate it very much!
Today I have been spending time researching different diets, including the raw diet. I'm not sure if I'm ready to commit to that yet. However, I want to know if it is okay to feed my puppy some one offs when we are making dinner.
For example, tonight we had salmon. I read that raw salmon is not a good idea unless it has been frozen first. How about cooked fresh salmon? Any problems there? I read the post on things to avoid, I'm thinking that when I prepare food like salmon, I'll just leave one portion of it without salt or seasoning of any kind and give that to Sam. I'll admit it...he ate some cedar plank salmon tonight and LOVED IT! I just hope we don't regret it.
Any thoughts or experience out there about giving the dog some cooked or raw meat as a treat or supplement to their norman kibble diet? Perhaps just a few food scraps from the table if it is free of seasoning or spices? I've read so much about Yorkies having sensitive digestive systems, I don't want to cause him undue stress or problems. (I know to put the food in his dish and not feed him from the table so he does not learn bad table manners...)
Any advice would be very much appreciated!!! Thank you in advance! |
