Honestly, I would never get a yorkie if I had to live in a rental/condo type arrangement. Many MANY of our posters here have had to go to hardwood floors because of potty training problems. Mine are two and one, and I clean up accidents every day.
Also, sorry to be the naysayer on this issue, but the barking can be BAD. I don't even consider my girls to be extreme barkers, but yes, they do bark like maniacs when someone comes to the door....and when something outside catches their attention. I'd be hesitant....esp. if you aren't going to be home most of the day to try to silence them.
You might want to look into the MALTESE breed. They are another toy breed that are loved by many yorkie owners....but they have the general reputation of being more laidback than yorkies.
