Default 10 years and having first litter

Yes Cottage cheese is a good thing to give. It will supplement the mother with calcium and help the babies too. Cottage cheese is a good form of bacteria. It will get rid of the bad bacteria in the system. The dogs that are pregnant need this. It's a form of acidophilus. I would offer her a vitamin supplement too, this will help with milk production She will need this at 10 years of age and having her first litter. Also because of her age she may have low calcium. This can cause her not to have her babies normally and to have a C-section. I have been educated as to the fact that a dog needs to have a litter before the age of 3 years to have it normally. Her pelvis may not give to be able to have them normally. It may be fixed, because of her age. I would be prepared to have a C-section.

Do you know how to read a thermometer?
I would start taking temp at 8 in the morning and 8 in the evening after the pups drop. This will be about 3 days before they are due. A good question is how do I know when the pups drop. You feel down the back every day. When you feel a Spine, this is when her babies drop and then she will be getting ready to have them. She will almost stop eating. Normal temp is 102 degrees. Watch for it to drop to 99 degrees then she will have the babies in the next 24 hours. I would advise you to go to the vet then. Let the vet oversee her with labor in case she needs help with a C-section.
