Was home cooking too hard? There's a lot of stuff you can buy frozen & supplement with something fancy like Merrick's (they make the cowboy cookout which sounds like something I'd eat! =)
I feed Evo kibble with a spoonful of canned mixed in. My boy can't have too much canned, like many dogs & cats he'll get diarrhea from a high amount of wet food. He just goes nuts over the Evo 95% vension wet mixed in there.
About the dental care, Dr. Pitcarn says expecting a kibble to clean a dogs teeth would be like humans flossing with crackers. I understand the principle of kibble scrapping teeth might remove some tartar, but for it to make a huge difference I just don't believe it. We get by with a tiny tooth brush and chicken flavored tooth paste
