I feel your pain !!!!! I took Teddy to petsmart for his first two grooms and the first one was fine, but the second time they told me they had to almost shave his belly because he was too matted (which was bull!!!)

and when I took him to a real groomer the other day, she was horrified at what they did to him because he was sooooo uneven everywhere that she suggested doing a puppy cut and basically starting over. He's pretty short now, but the hair is starting to grow back and she even gave me $5 off of that groom and the next one to make up for the petsmart disaster. She also begged me never to take him there again because its an assembly line, not a real groomer, and she said she has seen some dogs traumatized from those places so badly that they freak out when she tries to groom them. Thankfully, Teddy is ok, he didn't give her any trouble at all.
the moral of the story is keep looking, there are good reputable groomers out there who actually care about their clients.
good luck !!!
