I deal with this every year. Most birds of prey do not feed on a yorkie sized animal...I actually took a picture of the hawk stalking my yard and sent it to DNR they explained all this to me BUT if it is a Coopers Hawk....they are the most Vicious of all birds...they do not hunt to eat all the time they hunt for the thrill of killing....Sad but true. Can you try and get a pic? Hopefully he wont come back but if he does identifying him is really important. They do look totally different than any other hawk besides one other that is kinda rare. Mine did end up being a Cooper and I have to stand over my babies outside everytime and they do not migrate so I am stuck with him
