Let me tell you all. I had an email from Shannette and then a long phone conversation and at no time was I told she was the only dog in the ring. I was told of Carmella's 2nd place ribbon. I was terribly excited and wanted to share with everyone, especially all the breeders out there who want to breed the unique colors. I found out long into the afternoon, after reading it on this thread. I am still very proud of my dogs and as far as I am concerned they all have purple ribbons!
I can appreciate that the show breeders want to preserve the Yorkie standards and really feel I know where they are coming from as far as hard work to attain what they now have that they have worked so hard for.
But I will at no point stand still for my Chocolate Yorkies not being called Yorkies. Think of your favorite dogs and how much you love and care for them and it is your life, your entire life and try to realize that it is mine too and I will defend it as the show breeders and anyone else who loves their dogs do.
And YG2 you can take your ulterior motives comment and your vendetta and maybe you can stick it in some threatening PM.
My news had me on "Chocolate cloud nine" as one of my friends put it in an email. I am sure the show breeders have felt that "high". What in the world is wrong with that?
I would never want to not have the blue/gold or blue/tan yorkies and think it is a shame that black/gold is going to be dq in the near future. But I hope at some point maybe there will be a specialty class for the unique colors. I hope also that show breeders realize that I am totally for what they are about in the show ring. I just happened to develop the passion for Chocolates and aquired a non-related pair and I intend to breed them and I will not argue this point, as I have told you in the past.
I posted this thread so very happy, knowing many would try to burst my bubble, but it cannot be done, because that ribbon is not JUST what it is about. I am sure many of you have the same feeling at times about your dogs.
A Yorkie is a Yorkie and these unique colors are very much appreciated and people love unique, whether it be Parti or Chocolate or whatever.
Shannette should be commended by all for such inovative thinking and for sticking to her guns. Wish you would also tell what the 3 judges said to you as they called to back to the ring just before the end of the show when you were sitting ringside.
