Getting a second place ribbon with no first place being awarded because you were the only one in, does not mean the dog got second place. What it does mean is that the ribbon was withheld meaning the dog or bitch was not worthy of winning its class. She likely did not excuse if from the ring because it is not considered a DQ yet although I did see a judge last year excuse a brindle Pug from the ring here in Canada for wrong colour although brindle in PUgs is not yet a DQ but the Pug Club of Canada is in the process of closing that door so brindle will be a dq. The judge was an FCI judge from Basil a very experience well known judge. It is under the FCI that Europe UK and South America and I believe Mexico Kennel Clubs operate.
I have my sincere doubts it was knowlegable judges that would have withheld a ribbon and then said it was indeed a great Yorkie. They may have said in structure in other points it was fine but the colour is a severe fault enough of one to withhold a ribbon.
In the show world withholding a ribbon is considered to be a way of saying the dog should not be in the ring.
SOrry but that is the way it is if you know the show world which I keep telling people if you are going to breed, be part of it and know your breed.
