Your puppy probably has some puppy teeth that haven't fallen out yet. Do you see double teeth when you pull the lips back? Retained baby teeth make their breath smell SOOOOOO BAD. If they haven't fallen out by now, it's unlikely they'll fall out on their own so you're going to need to have them pulled. The vet can clean the teeth at the same time as well. Do you brush your dog's teeth on a regular basis?
Lacy had her retained puppy teeth pulled when she was like 7 or 8 months. She just turned three and hasn't needed her teeth cleaned. She only has very slight tarter on a few teeth. She's on a raw diet which doesn't cause tarter buildup like kibble and canned does. I brush her teeth really well once a week when I bathe her.
