My parents wouldn't allow me to date until I was 18. They wouldn't even let me hang out with my girl friends outside of school. Their strictness led me to break the dating rule, and I had my first boyfriend at 16. I had to keep it from them for a while, but I have a feeling they knew about it way before I told them.
They were way too overprotective in my opinion.
